The Atlanta Braves will try to win the final game of their five-game series against the New York Mets. Atlanta lost game one Thursday 6-4 but fought back in game two with a 9-6 victory.

Then, they faced the Mets in a doubleheader yesterday and lost both games.

In game one of the doubleheader, the Braves kept it close, and it was tied at five going into the ninth inning. However, relief pitcher Bryce Elder did not have what it took in the ninth and gave up three runs. The Braves ended up losing 8-5. The second game of the doubleheader was a little bit lower scoring.

The Braves and Mets sent aces Max Scherzer and Max Fried to the mound. Max Fried did not pitch poorly, but Scherzer pitched a tremendous game and won the battle of the Max’s. Scherzer threw seven scoreless innings and struck out the Braves 11 times. On the other side, Fried gave up four runs (two earned), and relief pitcher Jackson Stephens gave up two runs. Atlanta’s bats could not get going, and they lost 6-2.

This game should be an interesting one. Spencer Strider will take the mound for the Braves and be going against Jacob DeGrom for the Mets. This will be DeGrom’s first start at Citi Field in multiple seasons. These two pitchers are not far apart from each other; Strider is an impressive 6-3 with a 2.79 ERA, and Jacob DeGrom is trying to regain his form after recovering from injury, but his previous start looked promising. DeGrom threw five innings and only gave up one run in his first start of the season.

This matchup will come down to the lineups. The Braves and Mets have a lot of strong hitters, so it will be on them to find a way to hit against these tough pitchers.

The Mets are playing at home and have won three of the last four games, so they will also win this one. With that being said, it will be close, and the Braves will cover the spread at 1.5. As for the over/under of seven, I expect the Mets to win 4-3, so there will be a push.

This game will likely go down to the wire, so the x-factor for both teams will be the bullpen. Whoever has the stronger bullpen will win.
