NBA MVP Favorite
After Nikola Jokic was favored to win the NBA MVP at under 100 odds since January of 2023, his reign as the favorite has come to an end as Joel Embiid has jumped him.
Embiid jumped Jokic and now sits at under 100 odds at -125 odds and pushed Jokic up to 150 odds.

Embiid has come a long way since the odds first opened back in August 2022 where he had 660 odds to win. His odds quickly took a turn for the worst in the coming months having risen to over 1000 up to 1500.
Once his odds reached their peak, they dropped the following three weeks down to 240 and remained in that range until just a few days ago when he took over as the favorite.
He’s been putting up an MVP-caliber season all year to this point leading the league in ppg with 33.5, is top-10 in the league with 10.2 rpg, and is also averaging 4.1 apg.
On the defensive end, he’s been hot as well at 1.7 blocks per game and 1.1 steals per game.

In the month of March, he’s really picked things up raising his scoring average to 36.6 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 4.1 apg, 2.1 blk, and 1.1 stl. He has also led the Philadelphia 76ers to a 6-1 record in the month winning six straight games.
The Sixers currently sit in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 46-22 record.
To Win NBA MVP
Something that should help strengthen Embiid’s NBA MVP odds, even more, is the fact that Philly has the fourth toughest schedule remaining in the league and if he helps them continue winning, his odds could get even stronger.

There should be no discrediting what Jokic has been doing either as he’s averaging a triple-double on the season at 24.7 ppg, 11.9 rpg, and 10 apg, however, the first-place Denver Nuggets have gone cold in March going 2-4 and dropping four straight games.
The only other player that is even close to contending with Embiid and Jokic is Giannis Antetokounmpo who’s putting up 31.5 points, 11.9 rpg, and 5.5 apg and has led the Milwaukee Bucks to first place in the Eastern Conference at a 50-19 record.
