The Open Championship
The Scottish Open finished up on Sunday in dramatic fashion. Local pro-Robert MacIntyre birdied 18 to take a one-stroke lead in his national Open, but Rory McIlroy had two holes left to run him down, and that he did.
McIlroy birdied the final two holes to win the Scottish Open by one. It was an incredible show that most of the United States was unable to see live… Golf Coverage is a disaster.
However, this win gives Rory all the momentum in the world going into The Open Championship, which is at the site of his last Open Championship.

The Open returns to Hoylake and Royal Liverpool for the first time since 2014. Royal Liverpool looks very different since it last hosted The Open title. There is a converted par-4 (17) to a long part three, amongst many other changes.
There have been upwards of 15 significant changes made to the course – mostly on the back nine – and the overall par has changed from 72 to 71. Bunkers have been added, fairways have been reoriented, sand areas have been created, and new tees have been added.

The faces have changed plenty as well since Rory’s triumph here in 2014. #1 Scottie Scheffler was a freshman in college and #2 Jon Rahm hadn’t won on tour yet. All three have looked like the best player in the world at times this season, but none have been as steady as Scheffler, even without his putter participating for long stretches.
Rahm is looking to be the first player to win the Masters and The Open for the first time since Tiger Woods did so in 2005. He has been off for a few weeks leading into this championship. He has 4 wins this season and looks to get back to the winner’s circle.
In the field is a group of players looking to get the major monkey off their back. Xander Schauffele has 11 top-10s in his 25 major starts, Rickie Fowler is back to playing some of his best golf, and Tony Finau has two wins this season. Jordan Speith is always lurking as well. If the weather cooperates, this should be an awesome tournament, and if it doesn’t, then we could see some serious carnage.
