The Big East Tournament is wide open this year. Multiple teams have the goods to get through the gauntlet to raise the trophy on Saturday night.

The Top seeded Marquette Golden Eagles (300) are not the favorite going into the weekend.

The #5 seed Uconn Huskies are the current betting favorite (230) while others like Xavier (650) and Creighton (300).

The top of the conference is so superior to the bottom, that the bottom five teams are not worth discussing, however, we need to remember that Georgetown did win this tournament a few years ago from the back of the pack. Butler, Georgetown, and Depaul have no chance of winning this tournament this year.

St Johns is the home team for this tournament so you have to mention them (5500). They are a talented bunch, but they always shoot themselves in the foot.

Seton Hall (3000) is in a similar class. They play elite-level defense, but they struggle to get the ball in the bucket. You have to have bucket-getters to win at this time of the year.

Among the teams with a real chance to win this tournament, Villanova (800) is playing on Wednesday, but they have a great chance to advance due to their pedigree.

It hasn’t been the easiest year for the Wildcats, but they are always dangerous in March. Looking to the quarterfinals, when the big dogs lie waiting will more than likely produce the winner.

Big East Conference Tournament Dates & Sites

The Favorite Huskies of Uconn are riding high with a five-game winning streak. They have the conference player of the year in Adama Sanogo. They also have Jordan Hawkins, who can score with any other guard in the tournament.

Marquette is the top seed, and they run the most beautiful offense in the country. They are the top two-point shooting team in the country. They can give up big numbers on the offensive glass. A match-up with Uconn would prove to be difficult, as they are the best offensive-rebounding team in America.

Xavier has the firepower to win three games in three days as well. They are without their big Zach Freemantle. They are not very deep behind Jack Nunge, but again they have one of the best backcourts in the country.

Rounding out the rest of the conference, Creighton and Providence have been up and down this year. Creighton is limping into the tournament a bit with losses to Providence, Marquette, and Villanova, and squeaked out wins vs St. Johns, Georgetown, and Depaul.

They can score from everywhere on the floor, but their depth is a question. The Friars of Providence have also limped in a bit. They lost 3 of 4, but Ed Cooley’s bunch is usually a very tough out.
